Welcome 2009

As we begin another year in the Department of Greek Life, we would like to thank all of our students, staff and supporters for a very properous 2008. Our Deparment made great strides, including the move into our spacious new location in the Memorial Student Center, the addition of new organizations to our MGC and IFC Councils and an increase in Greek membership among the TAMU student body.

We look forward to another strong year in 2009 and look forward to your support and encouragement. Our Department will re-open on January 5, 2009 at 8am.

Chapter Expectations Program Announced

The Chapter Expectations Program is a program that provides an annual appraisal of a chapter’s performance. Performance is based on how a chapter meets and/or exceeds expectations established by the Department of Greek Life. Chapters are evaluated in six areas:

  • Values and Identity (unscored)
  • Academic Development
  • Member Education & Leadership Development
  • Risk Management & Education
  • Campus & Community Relations
  • Chapter Operations

This program is not a competition between chapters, rather it is an individual assessment tool for each chapter. This program allows chapters to evaluate current programming and operations, identify areas of strength and recognize areas where improvement is needed.

NPHC & Greek Life Sponsor Hurricane Relief Effort

The Texas A&M National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) will be hosting a Hurricane Relief Drive for people affected by Hurricane Ike. Many households in Houston, Galveston and the surrounding areas are without power, water and food. We are asking for willing participants to drop off their donations in the Greek Council Offices, Memorial Student Center Suite 026. Needed supplies are as follows (monetary donations are accepted as well):

Flashlights

Batteries

Non-Perishables

Blankets
